What has the world come to....

In order to complete a recent transfer of a prisoner from the city jail to Britain's Northampton Crown Court (located just across the street), officials had to summon the closest prison van (57 miles away) to come give him a ride. The prisoner, an accused thief, could not simply be walked across the street because officials feared that public, custodial exposure (a "perp walk") would embarrass him and that would be in violation of his "human rights."
